I have decided that in preparation for my first marathon, the Palm Beach Marathon on December 6th 2009, that I would like to hit some other races as part of my training.  I wanted to stick with my training plan as closely as possible, so that meant I would try and fit one or more half marathons in as my 13 mile long run weekends.

So far I found one that stood out from Martin County (Jensen Beach, FL) Halloween half marathon on October 25th.  Not only is it kind of local, but it also fell on a 13 mile long run weekend.  Plus it will be a nice run a couple of weeks prior to a 20 mile long run, as well as a full month prior to my first marathon.

I found the people conducting the half marathon to be both friendly and helpful.  I signed up and now continue my training.
