While the training this week felt pretty good, the long run was grueling. High 80’s with humidity in the same range truly sucks.
I have decided not to run San Francisco this year as planned. It is simply too soon after starting a new job to take that much time off, so instead I am toying with the idea of a 50 mile ultra in October or possibly the Lake Tahoe Marathon in late September. (My wife has a very strong desire to run at Lake Tahoe…so who am I to say “no”?)

Aaww, sorry you aren’t going to be able to do the San Fran marathon but totally understandable with just having started a new job. You were very fortunate to find another job as quickly as you did. Very nice!
This weekend was blazing hot and the humidity was off the chart so kudos to you for toughing it out and getting a long run in.
What ultra are you looking at in October?
I wanna go to Lake Tahoe too!!!! 🙂
The heat in NJ has been brutal as well…congrats on pushing through!!!
Humidity has been up and down the coast…. Stay cool down there in sunny Florida!
Hi Adam…I’ve missed you, it’s been a couple months since I heard from you last, I think. I hope the new job is going well!! Very happy for you! Sorry you won’t be doing SF, would have loved to meet you. I still plan to do it, but heel issues are going to cause me to just run it as a training run (aka: slow!). I hear Tahoe is a gorgeous race (though hilly!!). Lots of fall races so you’ll pick one that’s ideal!!
I’ve been seeing the lake tahoe ads in marathon and beyond – that looks like a really fun race. Hmmmmmm
