Week 45, 2010 training summary

Had a very nice week even though it is the first week of taper for the Space Coast Marathon. Of course since it is the first week that means 75% of the peak I achieved last week, so still 47 miles which is nothing to sneeze at. Last year at this time my max week was 30 miles, so I am pretty proud of that.

It is nice here in South Florida as the weather is a bit cooler, in the 50’s and 60’s when I run during the mornings.  Another thing I like is the development where I live has two outdoor pools. One is heated, and the other is not. Of course the heated pool gets all of the traffic, but as a Crazy Floridian I am NOT at that one. Instead I am using the un-heated pool instead of ice baths, and after my Sunday long run the pool was exceptionally cooler. My lips were actually blue when I got out, even though I only go waist deep. Brrrrr.

Today someone looked out of their patio doors and saw me in the pool casually reading Facebook posts on my mobile.  They politely came out and informed me about the heated pool on the other end of the development. I casually said thanks, instead of explaining why I was freezing myself. 🙂

  1. I’ve never heard of the Space Coast Marathon, it sounds awesome! 47 during a taper means you got mega miles in for the marathon – excellent. Can’t wait for you!!!!
