Week 07, 2011 training summary

Not much to say for this week except it was the last week of taper, and race week for my first 100 mile attempt.  I felt pretty good, but am a little confused by a couple of things.  I didn’t really “peak” during my taper like I have in the past.  I had more little pains as my body healed from running so many miles during this training iteration.  And while I was excited about the race, it did not really impact me much in terms of stress.

As you can see by Saturdays numbers, I did not hit the 100 miles I was attempting in this race.  I am not 100% sure what happened…heat of the afternoon (83 degrees) could have zapped too much energy, old shoes not protecting my feet as much as I needed with the large rocks, hydration not up to the heat, I had a slight cold that my body was fighting, or a bit of everything not aligning to allow me to push over the top.  I will write my race report and analyse a bit more closely soon.
